the lived experience of my practice

professional expertise guides you

I received my doctorate in philosophy from The European Graduate School in Switzerland.  I’m a licensed psychotherapist and divorce mediator.  Seeing life through the lenses of empathy and creativity has enhanced my work with kiddos 10 and up, adolescents, individuals, couples and families for over 20 years.  My clients describe me as direct and thoughtful.

personal experience knows where you’ve been

I’ve been divorced, I’ve been a single parent, I’ve struggled with co-parenting and sometimes failed.  I’ve relied on a Parent Coordinator.  And I know that relationship difficulty doesn’t have to be capital T “traumatic”.  As I move forward, I am certain that raising our children to know they are loved and valued is everything.  I continue to learn about renewal in relationships, and more and more deeply appreciate their importance.  Sharing the lessons that I’ve learned from my work and personal experience is a satisfying way to give back to community.  My work helps me remain attuned to all of these relationship issues, be the best parent I can be, continue to make decisions that create happiness, and help you do the same.

and supports you with the task at hand

During a time of upset, such as divorce, our nervous systems can become flooded and fear turns on the survival responses:  fight, flight or freeze.  When supported in operating from the present time, through our regulated emotions and logical self, we can take the courageous actions needed to positively effect the long term relationships we have with ourselves and others.

After a marriage dissolves we must restore ourselves and our family relationships. Through alternative dispute resolution approaches, conflict is calmed and peace emerges. The language of restorative justice: rehabilitation through reconciliation is a helpful descriptor for navigating divorce-adjacent life.  Resourcing support is essential to the facilitation of these conflict-reducing, health-restoring practices, which provide strategies for maintaining our ongoing relationships and offer guidance in more effectively engaging our decision-making processes.

We can meet in person in Madison, Wisconsin or virtually from anywhere. I am fluent in the language of art therapy.
